Berlin's Bonanza: pioneering specialty coffee since 2006. Minimalist vibe, exceptional quality, and a welcoming neighborhood spirit. Experience coffee excellence.
Bonanza Coffee Roasters stands as a beacon of Berlin’s specialty coffee movement—a place where innovation, quality, and artistic vision intersect with welcoming neighborhood energy. Founded in 2006 by Kiduk Reus and Yumi Choi, Bonanza was among the very first to bring meticulously sourced and roasted specialty coffee to Berlin. From humble beginnings in Prenzlauer Berg, the team has grown their distinct “unnecessarily good” philosophy into a citywide standard. The interior vibe is minimalist, yet warm; every detail, from the temperature-controlled machines to hand-measured espresso shots, reflects the founders’ obsession with excellence. Bonanza’s reputation has earned it international acclaim, including being named runner-up for Best Independent Coffee Shop in Europe at the 2024 European Coffee & Hospitality Awards.
The coffee portfolio at Bonanza features both signature blends and celebrated single origins, roasted in Kreuzberg and served with precision. Each location showcases two espresso options—a blend for milk-based drinks and a rotating single-origin for espresso aficionados—as well as multiple single-origin selections for batch brew. Retail shelves are always stocked with rare finds from Ethiopia, Colombia, and beyond, “transparent” in sourcing and flavor. To complement the coffee, a range of artisan cakes and pastries awaits. Regulars recommend grabbing a table in the leafy courtyard for a tranquil urban retreat, paired with a hand-poured filter coffee and a slice of decadent cake. With connections to Michelin-star restaurants and a reputation for trailblazing, Bonanza is not just a café—it’s a standard-bearer for Berlin’s new wave coffee culture.
