The Heart of Porto's Coffee Scene: A Roasting Revelation
Brothers Gonçalo and Francisco Cardoso ignited Porto's specialty coffee scene in 2014, starting their journey from an old Mercedes van, serving exceptional brews at festivals and markets for two years.
Their original café, a beautifully converted old garage designed by architects Alexandre Gamelas and Catarina Santos, exudes a bright, comfortable vibe. Here, the magic of coffee comes alive every Monday, as customers witness the entire in-house roasting process through a captivating glass wall, connecting them directly to the craft. Their commitment extends to ethical sourcing, working closely with cooperatives and producers to ensure fair prices for farmers.
The soul of their offering lies in their meticulously crafted house blend, featuring exquisite Arabica beans from Brazil, Colombia, and Guatemala. Once roasted, these precious beans are carefully rested for three days, allowing their complex flavors to fully develop before being served or packaged. Beyond their signature blend, they delight connoisseurs with rare coffee varietals, including an exceptional Caturra Chiroso from Colombia.
This dedication to quality and transparency culminated in their June 2024 expansion, opening a new, larger roastery and café near Park Serralves, continuing their remarkable coffee journey.
