Bocca Coffee: Ethiopian roots, Amsterdam craft. Ethically sourced beans, roasted in vintage 1963 Probats, served on a custom La Marzocco with local elm.

Menno Simons, a visionary with roots in organic sesame seed trading in Ethiopia, brought his passion for ethical sourcing to the heart of specialty coffee with Bocca. His sister company, Trabocca, founded in 2003, acts as the primary conduit for an estimated 99% of Bocca's green beans, ensuring a direct and transparent supply chain—a principle Menno vocally champions against industry norms.
This commitment to quality and integrity earned Bocca the prestigious European Coffee Award for best artisan roaster in Europe in 2014.The soul of Bocca's coffee is forged in refurbished cast-iron Probat roasters from 1963, chosen for their ability to provide a uniquely constant roasting environment. This dedication to craft extends to their flagship café, where a custom-made four-group La Marzocco Strada espresso machine, featuring a captivating see-through rear panel revealing its intricate copper piping, takes center stage.
The bar and machine's side paneling, crafted from an elm tree felled in an Amsterdam storm, further ground Bocca in its local heritage. Founder Menno Simons' innovative spirit was recognized with the 'Amsterdamse Ondernemersprijs' in 2018.
