CaffèCouture
★ 4.6
Vienna's third-wave originator, in-house roasting since 2010, espresso-led bar.
CaffèCouture occupies a quietly important place in Vienna's coffee story: when it opened in 2010, the city's specialty scene barely existed. A decade and a half later, most of the now-famous names have followed in its footsteps — and CaffèCouture is still doing what it always did, just with more company.
The roastery is part of the operation, and the café leads with espresso. The bar pulls clean, bright shots with seasonal single-origins, and a filter programme runs alongside. The interior is restrained and grown-up — polished, but unhurried — which makes it a welcome detour from the tourist density of the Innere Stadt outside.
If you're tracing Vienna's specialty scene chronologically, CaffèCouture is the first chapter. Worth a slow espresso and a bag to take home.
