Deluxe Coffeeworks: Where punk rock spirit fuels anti-frills cafes, fostering genuine connection over meticulously roasted, pure coffee. No Wi-Fi, just passion.

Deluxe Coffeeworks was born in a backyard in 2009, founded by Carl Wessel, a former film production co-owner, and New Zealander Judd Nicolay, who brought extensive coffee experience from Havana Coffeeworks. Their journey began with a second-hand roaster, quickly cultivating a unique, anti-frills philosophy. Dedicated roaster Garreth van Eyssen, a punk rock musician with a green mohawk, embodies their unconventional spirit. Their minimalist cafes, often just a counter and a couch, famously eschew Wi-Fi to foster genuine conversation.
The original spot even became a hub for the "Vesparados" Vespa club, adding to its distinct, community-driven character.Deluxe Coffeeworks has grown organically, building a reputation for quality without a single salesperson. Their commitment extends to direct sourcing, importing green beans directly from places like Guatemala. Beyond their cafes, Carl and Judd established a global consulting arm, setting up roasteries and training baristas for luxury hotels worldwide.
This dedication to coffee integrity is perhaps best exemplified by their no-nonsense milk policy: only full-fat milk is offered, with a strong recommendation to experience their coffee black, ensuring the pure essence of their meticulously roasted beans shines through.
Punk spirit, purist coffee, community focus, global reach.
