Kaffa Roastery — coffee roaster in Helsinki

Coffee Roaster

Kaffa Roastery

4.7

In-house Probat roasting since 2007. Direct-trade transparency. Full V60 / Aeropress / Syphon programme.

If Finnish specialty coffee has a flagship, it's Kaffa Roastery. Founded in 2007 by Svante Hampf and Benjamin Andberg, Kaffa essentially set the template for what third-wave coffee would look like in Finland — and the Punavuori basement still anchors the country's scene.

The space is part roastery, part café. A fifty-year-old Probat is visible behind glass; the staff will tell you exactly how much the farmer was paid for the beans you're drinking. The filter programme covers V60, Aeropress and Syphon alongside a careful espresso bar, and the bag wall reads like a who's-who of single-origin sourcing — Ethiopian, Colombian, Kenyan, Brazilian micro-lots that rotate with the harvest calendar.

Kaffa was named Finland's best coffee shop at the 2018 Helsinki Coffee Festival, and in recent years it experimented with AI-blended coffee under the AI-conic line — quietly innovative without losing the craft thread.

Most Helsinki baristas will tell you this is where they cut their teeth, or where they send visitors who only have time for one stop. Start here.
