From a garden shed to Hackney's heart. Ethically sourced, small-batch roasted specialty coffee, born from Colombian heritage. Taste the passion.
The Roasting Shed began as a passion project in a humble garden shed, fueled by the Colombian heritage and dreams of co-founder Ricardo, who grew up amidst coffee farms in Armenia, Colombia. Together with Esther, they turned that love for exceptional beans into a celebrated East London roastery, now thriving across two vibrant locations—Hornsey Road and Hackney Bridge. Their approach is unwavering: every bean is meticulously sourced through transparent, responsible relationships with growers and importers, ensuring full traceability and ethical impact. Small-batch roasting is at the core, preserving unique flavors and delivering outstanding transparency from crop to cup. The inviting atmosphere in both cafés resonates with warmth, love for craft, and the community spirit that started it all.
The Roasting Shed’s coffee portfolio showcases a curated selection of single-origin gems and blends, spotlighting microlots like the exquisite Aji from Huila, Colombia, and standouts such as La Leona from Quindio and San Juanillo from Costa Rica. Expect lively tasting notes including caramel, praline, vibrant fruits, and nuanced florals—each roasted with the pour-over in mind, though espresso and other brewing methods shine too. House specialties often include seasonal filter offerings, decadent pastries, and barista-recommended pairings to elevate your coffee ritual. With a philosophy built on uncompromising quality and genuine connection, The Roasting Shed has carved out a soulful, award-worthy niche within London’s specialty coffee scene.
