Black Delight — coffee roaster in Hamburg

Coffee Roaster

Black Delight

4.8

Meticulous Altona roastery (est. 2008) chasing the 'sweet spot' in every batch, with retail beans and a barista school.

Black Delight has been roasting in Hamburg-Altona since 2008, and the approach is exacting: each green coffee, chosen from dozens of samples, is test-roasted and brewed several times before it makes the cut. The team roasts to avoid both underdevelopment and acidity on one side and bitterness and baked flavours on the other — always, in their words, hunting the "sweet spot." Every roast is recorded and a sample of each batch archived with date and time, so the beans you buy are reliably fresh and consistent. The operation runs three machines — a small sample roaster, a 12-kilo batch roaster, and a large one capable of 150 kilos an hour — across two locations: the roastery café on Friedensallee and a second spot in Ottensen, with the Waidmannstraße site also home to a barista school. For anyone who likes their coffee with a side of how-it's-made transparency, this is a rewarding stop in Hamburg's west.
