Boom Coffee — coffee roaster in Dublin

Coffee Roaster

Boom Coffee

4.9

Neighbourhood micro-roaster. In-house roasting, Tartine pastries, local-artist walls.

Boom Coffee began on a shoestring in Inchicore — owner Craig McCarthy graduated, then built his first café by hand and opened the doors. Four years on, the team launched a second site at 29 Francis Street in The Liberties (2024) — bigger, more visible, and a sign of how Dublin's neighbourhood specialty scene keeps expanding outward from the city centre.

The coffee programme runs on Boom's own in-house roastery, with additional beans from Bell Lane in Westmeath. The pricing is deliberately accessible — Craig built the business around the idea that specialty coffee shouldn't be priced out of reach in working neighbourhoods. The pastry selection is well-curated: gluten-free and vegan treats from RUA, cookie bars and pies from Tanya's Bakery, fresh croissants from Tartine.

The Francis Street walls hang work by local artists and NCAD students, giving the cafe a community-gallery feel that matches its neighbourhood-hub identity. Dublin Inquirer once called the original Inchicore cafe a neighbourhood hub — that DNA is now in Francis Street too.
