Cigaló Specialty Coffee
★ 4.5
On-site roasting. Minimalist airy spaces. Three rooms across the north of the city.
Cigaló Specialty Coffee is one of the cleanest specialty operations in Buenos Aires. The flagship opened in 2017 on Virrey Olaguer y Feliú 3405 in Colegiales — a minimalist, airy room with on-site roasting and a precision-first brewing programme — and has since added two more locations: DOHO on Holmberg 1978 and Belgrano on Mendoza 2709. Three rooms, one programme, all consistent.
The aesthetic is the giveaway: clean lines, lots of white, airy interiors, nothing on the walls competing for attention with the cup. The menu sits where you'd want it on a specialty bar: in-house-roasted single origins available as espresso or pour-over, alongside artisan pastries — pistachio alfajor, croissants, almond alfajores, cinnamon rolls — designed to pair, never to lead the room's identity.
Cigaló is the kind of expansion story specialty coffee fans should pay attention to. At three locations, the brand is still firmly inside the pioneer-room category — small enough that the operator scales by adding precision rooms, not by mainstreaming the format. The Colegiales flagship is the one to visit first if you only have time for one: it's where the roastery sits, and where the brand's identity is most concentrated.
Show up, order an espresso or a filter, sit with the room. This is what a confident, decade-into-the-third-wave Buenos Aires specialty bar looks like.
