CoffeePirates — coffee roaster in Vienna

Coffee Roaster

CoffeePirates

4.6

In-house roasting since 2012, grower-visit sourcing programme, laptop-friendly big-windowed room.

Opened in 2012, CoffeePirates was one of the very first specialty roasters to land in Vienna — and a decade later, it's still one of the busiest. The flagship sits near the university campus in Alsergrund, in a big airy space full of natural light from oversized windows. Finding a seat in the morning rush is the local sport.

The coffee programme is built around direct relationships. The owners travel to source farms twice a year and roast everything on-site, with a constantly rotating menu of single-origins on espresso and filter. The bar handles standard milk drinks with care, but the real reward is asking what's new on the filter.

It's also one of the most genuinely laptop-friendly specialty cafés in Vienna — large tables, an open layout, the kind of place where a two-hour work session feels welcome rather than tolerated.
