Norway's Coffee Revolution: A Champion's Enduring Legacy

At the heart of this pioneering roastery lies the vision of Robert William Kallhovd Thoresen, the first-ever World Barista Champion in 2000. His journey, sparked by the burgeoning American third-wave coffee culture during his time as an architect in San Francisco, laid the groundwork for what would become one of Norway's foundational specialty coffee roasteries.

Collaborating with influential coffee professional Trish Rothgeb, credited with coining "third wave coffee," they meticulously crafted a foundational flavor profile and roasting style that set a new standard, paving the way for internationally renowned Norwegian roasters. This commitment to excellence extends to their sourcing, driven by The Collaborative Coffee Source, their dedicated green coffee company.

Through this initiative, they forge direct, sustainable relationships with top-tier producers worldwide, fostering connections with innovative farms like Colombia's La Palma & El Tucan. Their dedication to quality and accessibility culminated in 2017 when they became the first small, independent "third-wave" roastery in Norway to feature their exceptional coffee in a major national supermarket chain, bringing specialty coffee to a wider audience while maintaining their unique soul and character.
