Coffee Roaster
Kaffeefabrik
★ 4.7
Direct-trade sourcing from South America, Africa and India; outpost roastery in Burgenland.
Kaffeefabrik runs out of the 4th district (Wieden) — a quieter part of central Vienna, but with one of the city's longer-running specialty operations. What makes it different from other Vienna roasters is the geographic reach of the sourcing programme: direct relationships with farmers across South America, Africa and India, in markets most European specialty roasters never touch.
The roasting itself happens at an outpost roastery in Burgenland, just outside Vienna, with the city café serving as the front-of-house showcase. Single-origins anchor the menu, espresso and filter both get treated seriously, and the retail shelf carries bags from the rotating origin lineup.
The room is compact and unfussy — a working coffee shop run by people who care about the bean trail more than the Instagram angle. Worth a detour from the centre.
