Kaffemik — coffee roaster in Vienna

Coffee Roaster

Kaffemik

4.7

In-house roastery, Nordic-style light roasts, seasonal single-origin focus.

Kaffemik is one of those places that quietly defines a city's specialty scene without needing to shout about it. Tucked just off Mariahilfer Straße in the 7th district, the café and its in-house roaster have been a fixture of Vienna's third-wave culture for years — an undersized space with an oversized reputation.

The roasting profile sits firmly on the Nordic end of the spectrum: light, bright, acid-forward. Single-origins are the point, with East African origins (Ethiopia, Kenya, Burundi) cycling through seasonally. Espresso here is a transparent showcase of the bean rather than a sweet, syrupy ride. Filter and hand-brews back up the bar; the menu is short on purpose.

The room is small and unfussy — a few stools, a few tables, a counter where the next bag of coffee usually sits open for cupping. Go in expecting to taste the coffee, not the milk, and you'll leave a fan.
