Knockbox helped write the opening chapter of Hong Kong specialty coffee. It started in 2011 on Sheung Wan's Tai Ping Shan Street and has since settled into a snug front-shop/back-roastery on Hak Po Street in Mong Kok, where beans are roasted fresh every week.
The coffee credentials are hard to beat: head barista and roaster CP "Laughing" Wong won the 2025 Hong Kong Barista Championship, the latest title in a long competition history. Expect a tight, considered menu — single-origin espresso, careful pour-overs, and beans to take home — served in a room where the focus is squarely on what's in the cup. It's a small space with a big reputation, and a must-visit stop for anyone tracing the city's coffee lineage.
