Co-founder Kurt Dalsgaard also pioneered specialty coffee in Copenhagen with Amokka in 1998, making Kontra a true forerunner in the city's vibrant scene.

Their commitment to quality and transparency was further solidified by being early adopters of direct trade relationships with producers, starting in 2011.Beyond their championship heritage, Kontra Coffee possesses a unique soul, deeply committed to ethical sourcing and innovation.

They are the exclusive Danish ambassador for the "Orang Utan Coffee" project, directly supporting Sumatran farmers in sustainable, organic cultivation that protects critically endangered orangutan habitats. A premium of 50 cents per kilogram directly benefits farmers and the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme.
