Old Java Coffee Roasters

Since 2014, Old Java has roasted from the steep alleys below the Galata Tower, long enough to watch the neighbourhood transform around it — street art multiplying, internationals arriving, old businesses adapting. It bridges those worlds, serving Turkish regulars and curious expats from the same small counter.

The sourcing is the heart of it. Old Java works directly with farms practising sustainable agriculture and fairer-trade terms, and each bean comes with a story of soil, water and the people who grew it. Coffee is roasted in-house and pulled on Modbar systems, with espresso, filter and cold brew all done with care.

Inside, plants overflow from every corner and soften the industrial edges, making a snug room feel like a greenhouse hideout. It's a fine place to escape the Galata crowds, slow down over a filter, and taste a decade of quiet consistency.
