Switch Coffee Tokyo Meguro — coffee roaster in Tokyo

Coffee Roaster

Switch Coffee Tokyo Meguro

4.5

Owner-sourced, owner-roasted micro-roastery. ~4 roasts/week. 5 single origins + seasonal espresso blend. Three Tokyo locations, Meguro is the flagship.

Switch Coffee Tokyo opened in Meguro in 2013, founded by Masahiro Onishi after years working in specialty coffee in Europe and Australia. The Meguro flagship is the original of what's now a three-location operation (Meguro, Yoyogi-Hachiman, Nihonbashi), and the most distilled expression of the project: small, focused, and almost entirely about the bean.

The space is tiny — a roaster occupying most of the back, a short counter at the front, a few stools. Onishi personally sources green beans from origins including Honduras, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Colombia, then roasts about four times a week to keep the shelf fresh. The lineup at any time is roughly five single-origin filters and a seasonal espresso blend, with regular features for visiting micro-lots.

Service runs pour-over, espresso, and batch brew. The roast level leans medium-light with a clarity-first profile — bright but balanced, the kind of cup that's quietly become a Tokyo specialty benchmark.

A short walk from Meguro Station, and one of those venues most visiting baristas put on their itinerary before anything else.
