Takagi Coffee operates from a small Tras Street shophouse in Tanjong Pagar, and is one of the more disciplined Japanese-influenced specialty roasters in Singapore. The operation roasts its own beans on-site with a clear sourcing remit: Indonesia, Nicaragua, and Rwanda anchor the menu, with rotating seasonal lots filling out the rest of the filter board.
The coffee programme leans toward the precision-first end of Japanese specialty practice. Expect single origins served primarily on hand pour-over, a balanced house espresso, and the option to taste a side-by-side comparison between the same bean on espresso versus filter if the staff have time. The retail wall stocks bags for home brewing, with bean cards that lay out origin, process, and brew suggestion.
The room is unhurried — pale wood, clean lines, a handful of seats designed for sitting in rather than passing through. Takagi rewards the visitor who wants to taste how a Japanese-trained roaster sources outside the obvious East African circuit, and treats coffee like it's worth fifteen quiet minutes.
