The Whirl Roastery

The Whirl operates at a different scale to the snug neighbourhood roasters downtown. Based in Maslak, it runs one of Turkey's most serious specialty roasting facilities, with a Loring Smartroast — among the cleanest, most efficient machines in the business — at the centre of the operation.

What sets it apart is the academy attached. The Whirl runs the SCA Coffee Skills Program with authorised SCA trainers, turning the roastery into a place people come to learn the craft, not just buy the result. It supplies many of the city's hotels and restaurants, but it isn't wholesale-only: a roastery café opens the doors to the public for espresso, filter and decaf poured at the source.
