Coffee Roaster
Kurasu Kyoto
★ 4.8
Home-brew-focused roaster pouring Nishijin-roasted seasonal single origins on filter.
Kurasu began as an online specialty-coffee and Japanese-brewware brand before opening cafés across Kyoto — and, eventually, overseas. The Ebisugawa flagship, on the city's "furniture street," is the clearest expression of its founding idea: making great home brewing approachable. There's no commercial espresso machine here on purpose. Every drink is built on the same drippers, AeroPresses and kettles stacked for sale across the counter, so you can recreate your cup at home. Beans come from the Nishijin roastery a short ride away, with a rotating monthly selection that also drives Kurasu's globally-shipped subscription. The space is pale wood, quiet, and unhurried — a place to slow down, watch a careful pour, and pick up the gear to do it yourself. Stop in for a seasonal single origin and leave knowing how to brew it.
