Yu-ta Chu, the mind behind Oasis Coffee Roasters, traded his film industry career for a life of beans and brews. The pivot started with one defining sip of Tim Wendelboe's coffee in 2015, and since 2018 Oasis has been roasting and brewing in Da'an with that Nordic clarity as the north star.
The coffee programme leans light: bright, fruit-forward roasts brewed with a scientific approach to extraction. Single-origin filter is the headline, and the rotating bean selection draws from carefully chosen producers. Oasis is also one of the Taipei roasters distributed via TYPICA, Japan's premier direct-from-roaster specialty platform — a real signal of the room's quality and a vouch from the global specialty community.
The cafe itself is calm and unfussy. Reddit's Taipei community calls it "without a doubt, one of the best I've been to — great selection of single origins, great baristas, lovely front room." A required stop for anyone serious about light-roast filter and pour-over craft in Taipei.
