Pobnar — specialty coffee shop in Bangkok

Specialty Coffee Shop

Pobnar

4.7

Ethiopian-focused filter bar, reserve-lot single origins, in-house roasting, hidden alley location.

Pobnar feels like Bangkok's worst-kept secret. Hidden at the end of a small alley off Convent Road in Silom, the roastery is intentionally hard to find — and that's part of what makes it feel like walking into someone's home rather than a café.

The menu is unapologetically Ethiopian. The bar carries a deep rotation of single-origin beans, predominantly from Ethiopia — from moderately-priced everyday washes and naturals all the way up to rare, reserve-lot micro-lots that wouldn't look out of place at a competition stage. Beans are roasted in-house, and the focus is firmly on filter — slow, deliberate brews that let the origin do the talking.

The space is small and quiet, with mismatched chairs, soft light, and a resident ginger cat that tends to fall asleep wherever the sun is hitting the floor. Locals, off-duty industry, and the occasional travelling coffee nerd are the regulars. For anyone serious about Ethiopian coffee in Bangkok, Pobnar is the destination.
