Public Coffee Roasters

4.6

Transparency-driven roastery pouring own 100% arabica, from rounded espresso to a championship Elida Estate natural.

Public Coffee Roasters takes its name from a goal: to generate public interest in specialty coffee and to keep its work ethic and production transparent. The original café sits on Wexstraße in the lively Neustadt, a small dark room with wall-sized windows and neon sidewalk stools. Behind it is a serious roasting operation — once a floating barge in Entenwerder, now an 800-square-metre Rahlstedt facility shared with Hanseatic Coffee Roasters. Everything is 100% arabica, spanning rounded espresso roasts to bright, fruity filters, including a natural Elida Estate that has taken championship honours. Today three Hamburg cafés carry the brand — the Neustadt original, an Eimsbüttel spot with its own bakery, and one in Mühlenkamp — each pairing Scandinavian-leaning interiors with that young, coffee-obsessed energy. Come for a flat white and a slice of cheesecake, leave with a bag of beans.
